Description
This vegan, paleo, AIP Banana Milkshake is thick, creamy, and delicious, without any added sugar and comes together quickly in the blender. This recipe makes 2 milkshakes.

Banana Milkshakes
- 1 cup full fat coconut milk (additive free)
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- dash of salt
- 2 very ripe bananas, frozen
- 6 ice cubes
Optional Toppings
- caramelized bananas: 1 just ripened banana + 1 TBSP coconut oil
- caramel sauce or tigernut butter: 3 TBSP melted coconut oil + 1/4 cup tigernut flour + dash of sea salt
- 1/4 cup unsweetened coconut flakes
Instructions
Banana Milkshake
- To your blender, add all milkshake ingredients in the order in which they are listed: coconut milk, vanilla, cinnamon, dash of salt, frozen bananas and lastly, ice.
- Blend until smooth, adding more coconut milk or water if you prefer a thinner milkshake.
Toasted Coconut (optional)
- Heat a small frying pan on medium-low heat and add unsweetened coconut flakes.
- Stir flakes constantly so that they toast evenly and continue until they begin to brown. It’s important to watch he pan carefully as coconut flakes burn quite quickly.
- Once brown, remove from pan and cool completely.
Caramelized Bananas (optional)
- Remove peel from banana and slice into rounds 1/2 inch thick
- Using same small frying pan, heat to medium and add coconut oil.
- Add banana slices and fry for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden and caramelized.
Caramel Sauce or Tigernut Butter (optional)
- Mix coconut oil and tigernut flour in a small bowl and stir until mixture comes together and resembles a creamy nut butter. Add more coconut oil if needed and sea salt to taste.
