Mango Frozen Yogurt Recipe
This is a super quick and easy froyo recipe! Frozen mango and coconut yogurt are all you need for a delicious, slightly tangy, dairy-free frozen yogurt with a natural tropical sweetness.
The best part – super creamy homemade frozen yogurt without an ice cream maker. Throw the ingredients into a high-powered blender like a Vitamix or a food processor and blend. In 5 minutes, you’ll have smooth, soft-serve style froyo just like the frozen yogurt chains, but better! Just real, fresh flavors without added sugars, artificial colorings, or flavorings.
You can also freeze it to make a firmer, scoopable texture. However you like it, this dairy-free mango froyo is the perfect no-bake summer treat (or any time dessert!) and will be a hit with kids and adults alike.

Ingredients
See the recipe card below for ingredient quantities.
- frozen mangoes – frozen fruits will create a creamier texture than fresh fruits. You can use store-bought frozen mangoes for convenience or cut and freeze fresh, ripe mangoes.
- dairy-free unsweetened coconut yogurt – I recommend using one that’s high in fat, without a lot of additives including thickeners, preservatives, or sweeteners. These ingredients will water down the froyo’s texture. The high fat content is necessary to make this dairy-free froyo as thick and creamy as possible and less icy when frozen. Also, these types typically have a better, ‘real’ flavor and are tangier as the cultures aren’t diluted by the additives.
Ingredient Substitutions
- See the Tips & Tricks for flavor suggestions to substitute the mango.
- You can use any type of unsweetened dairy-free yogurt including soy or nut milk yogurts. The most important thing is to use one with a high fat content and minimal additives which is crucial to create the ideal texture.
- AIP Modification: Use a soy-free, nut-free, dairy-free yogurt that complies with the AIP diet (i.e. no preservatives, gums, or artificial sweeteners, flavorings or colorings, etc).

How to Make Mango Frozen Yogurt

Add the frozen mango cubes and coconut yogurt to the bowl of your food processor or high powered blender.
Step 2: Blend until smooth
Blend, scraping down the sides and stirring the mixture intermittently with a spoon or with a blender stir stick.
Continue blending until fully combined and the mixture is creamy and smooth.
Step 3: Serve
Enjoy immediately for a soft-serve texture or pop it in the freezer for a firmer texture. Scoop into dessert bowls or glasses and garnish with fresh raspberries or your favorite toppings, and enjoy!
Tips & Tricks
Blending Tips
Since this recipe as written has a small volume, using a food processor fitted with an S-blade attachment will work really well to combine these ingredients.
If you have a Vitamix, I highly recommend using the stir stick accessory to scrape down the sides of the container and mix the ingredients together in between blending. Alternatively, use a spoon to do so.
If you don’t have a super high-powered blender, you might need to add a splash of full fat coconut milk or other dairy-free milk, or a bit more yogurt to thin out the mixture. This will help to blend it into a smooth consistency. If doing so, you may want to freeze it after blending as it won’t be as thick. However, note that the froyo can get a bit icier during freezing since it’s been watered down.
Adjust the Sweetness
I like to buy ripe mangoes, cut them into cubes and freeze them. This ensures a sweet mango flavor without the need for added sugars. However, feel free to add a few tablespoons of maple syrup or honey to add some sweetness, especially if your store-bought frozen mangoes aren’t very ripe.
Adjust the Consistency
If the froyo mixture is softer or thinner than you’d like, freeze it to firm up into a scoopable texture.
Flavor Variations
Experiment with flavors by making this frozen yogurt recipe with other frozen fruits. Sub mangoes with cherries, peaches, bananas, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, pineapples, or a mixture of frozen fruits. Depending on the frozen fruits’ natural sweetness, or if using more tart fruits like sour cherries, lemons, or limes, consider adding some maple syrup or honey.
Toppings
Feel free to enjoy as is or get creative with your favorite toppings. I added a few fresh raspberries for a touch of tartness that perfectly complements the froyo’s sweet and tangy flavor.
Try other fresh or frozen fruits like kiwi, pineapple, or berries, shredded coconut, or toasted coconut flakes. Add texture with sprinkles, chopped nuts, or seeds (if tolerated). Add sweetness with a drizzle of maple syrup or honey. For a chocolate flavor, drizzle melted dairy-free chocolate or add a handful of dairy-free chocolate chips.
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, you can make this up to a day in advance and store in the freezer in a freezer-safe container. If you’d like, you can stir the mixture every few hours to help prevent ice crystals from forming.
Allow to soften at room temperature until it reaches your desired consistency before serving.
Storage Instructions
Freezer: As noted above, this homemade frozen yogurt is best enjoyed within 24 hours of making it.
You can freeze it in an airtight, freezer-safe container for up to 1 month. However, the longer it is stored, the icier and less creamy it will be. Freezing will dull the sweetness so if you plan on storing for longer you’ll likely want to add some sweetener. You may need to re-pulse in the blender before serving.
